In addition, while Dr. Wilson maybe intact-friendly, he is very aggressive in pushing vaccinations (he screamed me out of his office, telling me I was a terrible mother and my daughter was going to die because I delayed her shots). I think people should be aware of that, because most people I know who do not circumcise also do not vaccinate (or they delay).
I live in Norman, but I drive to the city to see Dr. Julie Morrow at St. Anthony. She is so wonderful. She knows proper intact care (her staff as well), and she is just fine with delayed our refused vaccs, if that is important to you. I originally had started with Dr. Wilson in Norman, but he screamed me out of his office over our decision to not vaccinate.
ReplyDeleteWhen Dr. Kelly Stephens in OK City gave my newborn his initial checkup he didn't even TOUCH the penis. He checked to make sure the testes descended but left everything else completely alone. We may have differing views on a few things, but he never pushes his opinions on me. Really nice guy and a great doc.
ReplyDeleteDr. Bennett (Tulsa): Very matter-of-fact, can come off as a little blunt but knowledgeable. I *believe* her own 3 sons are intact. I've kind of gotten that impression from the way she talks. She seems to understands the anatomy of the foreskin and not to retract etc. Even made sure *I* was aware not to do it and that I've made anyone that changes his diaper regularly aware. Seems to have a full understanding of the seperation process and a wide knowledge of the different issues that can arise such as phimosis, mild irritation, yeast infections, etc. and the visual differences between conditions. And best of all, the different methods in which to treat them WITHOUT using the evil 'C' word. Pro breastfeeding.
ReplyDeleteHelen Hawkins, PNP: VERY pro breastfeeding. Seems to understand the 'no retraction rule.' Unsure of her knowledge of treatment/anatomy of foreskin but she has never said anything negative or tried to retract on our visits.
I don't know Dr. Madore's stance on circumcision, but she has been seeing both my sons since birth, and has never touched their penises, attempted to retract, told me to clean it, or suggested circumcision. She examined both boys right after birth. In the event of yeast infections, she has always prescribed nystatin.
ReplyDeleteDr. Vardey is my kids' pediatrician in Claremore and she is most definitely foreskin friendly.
ReplyDeleteDr Cooper in Enid Ok is a family practitioner who is familiar with infant intact care. Her office number is 580-233-5553.
