I'm thankful for not having boobs thrown in my face all the time by offensive and indecent
breastfeeding mothers like the ones below.
breastfeeding mothers like the ones below.
Wait... Well, this is a bad example. Let's try again.
Hmm... Just a minute. I'm sure I can find better ones than these...
Eh, still not offensive enough. I'll check one more time.
That is better. LOOK AT THAT! I see about a half inch of boob. DISGUSTING.
UGH. Look at that indecency! She must be from some third world country to be exposed like that!
Now that's just... There are no words to describe how inappropriate that is.
Something needs to be done!
But why stop at breastfeeding women?
There are boobs everywhere.
Beware! If you thought the above photos were offensive, you will definitely be offended by the photos below.
Not this one, though.
This one was in plain view on newsstands and in mailboxes in 19 countries world-wide:
Not this one, either. It actually won an award!
Oh, and I guess this one is fine too.
Everyone knows you cannot sell jeans without someone being topless.
Or beer, for that matter:
Or sunglasses:
Or movie tickets:
Or CDs:
You know what? Maybe I'm crazy, but I think that someone mixed up some photos here.
The first batch are offensive, but the second batch are just fine and dandy?!

I think it's ridiculous that people find breastfeeding photos offensive, especially on Facebook. The problem comes with the oversexualization of the breast. And you're right, those magazine photos are just as bad, but they're simply about sex, whereas breastfeeding photos are about life and love. But back to FB, people can post their disgusting photos, like hunting photos with dead animals for example, and that's not offensive...but breastfeeding photos are? Please!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully stated. I completely agree.
DeleteThis is awesome. Thanks for the laugh. Support breastfeeding mothers!
ReplyDeleteI have been saying this for years!! how could boobs ever be offensive? every body loves them!
ReplyDeleteI love the nursing babies. So sweet. Makes me miss those days.
ReplyDeletei agree, totally stupid, some people get their trills on complaining about stupid things. i breastfed my son and plan on breastfeeding my new baby. support breastfeeding mothers i agree! anonymous
ReplyDeleteThis has got to the BEST blog post I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's not the breastfeeding pictures that are "bad"? Maybe it’s the people complaining about them?
When I see women or pictures of women breastfeeding it touches my heart. I see a baby eating what God/nature intended for him to eat. I see a mother doing what God/nature intended on her doing. I see natural bottles - not man-made bottles. I see the ultimate nutrition being delivered – the nutrition made for a human baby. I see a mother's love. I see a baby's love. I see a mother bonding with her child. I see precious.
What do these "other minds" (the ones that think this is offensive) see?
I love this! People are so backwards.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely perfect!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! Breastfeeding is not offensive, the fact that society and media over sexualize absolutely everything is!
ReplyDeletetotal agree <3 im going to me a mummy in less than 7 weeks :) & i strongly agree that breastfeeding is the best gift you can give your baby :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love this post!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm soooo going to breastfeed all my children. On top of cheap, practical (heck, if I run out of milk for my own coffee...I'll just pump some from my own boob), it is also the best way to have a healthy baby.
The best thing for babies I. Would sit in Walmart back home an breastfeed my son I got dirty looks even tho I had a blanket covering me up I just told themm if you do not like it then do not look
ReplyDeleteI have never had any negative experiences with breastfeeding in public, but I am exceptionally immune to public criticism, I must add.
ReplyDeleteYOur post is awesome, however, and made me think -- well, maybe those latter pictures with boobs allow anyone looking at them indulge in the thought of owning/touching them, whilst the former pictures have the rightful owner there, present and using the boobs for one of their most important purposes. And that can only make one jealous.
Well stated.
DeleteI think as a society we tend to over sexualize breasts. I breastfed and never had anyone say anything to me about doing it in public. I did get a few stares but I was also as discreet as I could be. My husband, son and I were traveling and we decided to stop and eat. While we were sitting in our booth, I decided to nurse my son, who was 6 weeks old at the time. A little boy a few tables away asked his mom what I was doing to the baby. She told him that I was feeding my baby and explained that not all mommies feed their babies with a bottle. She was totally cool about it and did not make me feel like a sideshow freak for nursing in public. She even asked if it was okay to ask me if he had any questions. He didn't but he thought it was cool that my baby got milk from me.
