Tips for Preventing Cancer
Cancer is a word not welcome. None of us want to hear it in connection to a friend, family member, or ourselves. While cancer still claims many lives each year, the fight is on. New research is being done, and new discoveries--like being able to test for cancer with a blood test--are underway. Researchers have found new ways not just to fight cancer, but to prevent it. If we follow most of the suggestions on this list, our risk of cancer drops. Here are some tips for maintaining a cancer-free future.
Diet
Diet is one of the simplest things to alter--and also one of the hardest. One night at a time, it’s not difficult to make a vegan stew for dinner instead of eating a pizza, but every night, every month, and our craving for meat starts driving us crazy. While difficult, it’s true that avoiding animal protein can greatly reduce a person’s risk of cancer, so doctors recommend that anyone trying to avoid cancer eat less dairy and meat. Mediterranean diets are also recommended, especially diets with an emphasis on fish and nuts. Other dietary tips for avoiding cancer include avoiding obesity (diet pills such as HydroxyElite can help you get started) and consuming only moderate amounts of alcohol.
Exercise
The trimmer we are, the better. Regular exercise will help keep us at a healthy weight, which decreases our risk of cancer and will also boost our overall well-being. We should aim for 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise each week, or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise. That helps lower our risk of getting colon, breast, prostate, lung, and kidney cancer.
Harmful exposure
We should all limit ourselves to exposure to both tobacco and sun. Tobacco has been linked to lung, mouth, throat, pancreas, bladder, and kidney cancer. The secondhand smoke can also cause lung cancer in others. If you need help quitting, talk to your doctor. Going tobacco free is a struggle, but it’s always worth it. As far as the sun goes, we can protect ourselves from harmful exposure by limiting our time spent outdoors. It’s great to get daily fresh air, but regularly using sunscreen, and avoiding direct sunlight at midday, are all better for us in the long run.
Get regular medical care
One of the best things we can all do is see a doctor regularly for screenings, and regularly self-screen ourselves for cancer. Many of us wish to avoid the question altogether, and we’d rather rely on the false safety of the unknown than even think about cancer. An early diagnosis, however, can mean everything, so it’s very important to check.
Researchers all over the world are finding new ways to fight cancer. New research into CBD oil cancer treatment may find that the hemp plant is a way to combat cancer. Many other methods are being investigated. While we’re not there yet, we’re getting closer than ever before to finishing cancer once and for all.
